Shri Swaroopchand Jain
Shri Swaroopchand Jain is an eminent social and political
worker, educationist, businessman and philanthropist of
Chhattisgarh. He and his family have been associated with
education for the last five decades. He has formed and
promoted many educational institutions in and around Raipur.
He is also associated with many social organisations of
national and international repute. He became the first Mayor
of Raipur Municipal Corporation in the year 1980. He
was elected twice-first in 1980 and then in 1985 to the Madhya
Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Raipur City constituency. At
present, he is actively involved in politics and is the Vice
President of State Congress Committee.
