Course Design

The courses offered during the two year program are classified into credits. The courses are either of 4 or 2 credit papers based on the amount of classroom interaction and student workload in off class room activity. As a thumb rule, for a 2 credit course for instance, has 10 class room interactions of 15 hours and students are expected to put in 20 hours of work apart from this in off class room

activity. Similarly for 4 credit course it is of 20 class room interactions of 30 hours and off campus activity of 40 hours. This is done as per the AICTE norms which consist of 1200 hours of total course load apart from summer placement or On-the-Job-Training..

Each student has to take electives of 20 credits each in Term-IV & V and the rest of 10 to 16 credits in Term-VI.
A student is required to complete minimum 20 credits in particular functional area to declare it as the area of concentration. A student can have (if wishes) more than one area of concentration.

If a student is keen to take up a course, but fails to do so because of crossing the limit of max credit in a term, he/she can audit that course, subject to the approval of the course instructor(s) and deposit the required fees. A student can opt one course in a term as an audit paper. In an audited course, though the student has to fulfill all the requirements of the course to the satisfaction of the instructor(s), he/ she would not be awarded any credit for that. Consequently, if the PGDM office gets a communication from the concerned instructor(s) indicating successful auditing of the course, the name of the course will appear in the transcript of the student without any grade assigned to it.

The student who would choose an elective course mix of 50 credits may be allowed to take a maximum of three audited courses, one in each term. Similarly, the student who would choose an elective course mix off more than 50 credits may be allowed to take a maximum of two audited courses.
